*sings* Happy 2 year Mraz-iversary to me!!

Yes, it was 2 years ago today that I discovered Jason and saw him live for the 1st time... and what a great 2 years those have been.

Here's a picture I look that night (at that time, I thought it was good!):

That night Jason was the opening act for Chantal Kreviazuk. I went to see her, but I walked out a fan of him. I cut a review of the show out of our local paper the next day... here it is the picture and the little blurb about him in the review:

The concert begining with opening act Jason Mraz, a young American singer/songwriter with "star" written all over him, was a casual affair.

and later:

For his part, Mraz had the crowd whooping after four songs and jumping to their feet at the end of seven songs delivered over a 40-minute set.
Combining inventive songwriting - the songs were drawn from his solo debut Waiting For My Rocket To Come - with innovative guitar playing and expansive vocals, Mraz demonstrated why he is creating buzz south of the border.
The San Diego based singer/songwriter has attracted comparison to all kinds of hot artists, but he seems closest to John Mayer in live performance.
His loopy, trippy, bending and twisting music is a blend of folk, world and jazz all his own. And he is accomanied by a tight band led by Dejembe-style percussionist Toca Rivera.
The Center should book Mraz to a return engagement -- now. A year down the road he will be doing stadium shows. This guy is the Right Stuff.

I read that review for the first time tonight since I cut it out two years ago. Wow. So much has changed... It was weird to read the review again, but it made me so proud of him. *sniff*

Its snowing right now...the first snow of the year. The snowflakes are what I like to call "pussy flakes" 'cause they're so big and fluffy. The snow is making me happy. I'm not sure exactly why though. Maybe becuase it means Christmas is comming. Its certainly not because I like snow or when its cold. Brrr!!! That reminds me, I need to continue my search for a winter coat. A nice warm down-filled one.. but one that doesn't make me look like the Stay-Puff marshmallow man.

Drawing, painting, cutting, taping, gluing...Whew!! The guitar is for my oldest nephew's costume (thats him holding the guitar),he's 11. As you probably guessed, he's going as Angus Young from AC/DC. I brought him to school this morning... he looked SO good!! His costume is the BEST!!

I'm so tired.
Woah... first entry in 6 months. Can you tell I'm not much of a journal person? Stole this from Emy (thank you!!!):

----------------

1. Make a list of all the bands you've seen:

Jason Mraz
Matt Nathanson
Tristan Prettyman
Steadman
Joe Firstman
Kyle Riabko
Graham Colton Band
Sheryl Crow
Jewel
Dixie Chicks
Ricky Skaggs
Jann Arden
Emm Gryner
Diana Krall
Shania Twain
Remy Shand
Deborah Cox
Bif Naked
Dido
Travis
Emiliana Torrini
Indigo Girls
K's Choice
Sarah Slean
White Stripes
Whirlwind Heat
Barenaked Ladies
Chantal Kreviazuk
Jorane
Holly McNarland
Amanda Marshall
Tom Wilson
Tom Cochrane
Lillix
Sarah McLachlan
Butterfly Boucher
Rufus Wainwright
Martha Wainwright
Teitur
Shannon McNally
Joan as Police Woman

*whew* in no particular order, just how they came to mind ...but I know there must be a few I've missed.

2. Make a list of all the gigs you've got coming up:
None *yet*. :(

3. Gig that was the most fun?
The first show that comes to mind is Jason in Deland, FL last December, but its really hard to say... And then I guess Sheryl Crow at Bluesfest last July, second row GA. ;)

4. Most disappointing gig?
Shania Twain (Oct 2003)- I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was "too much"... too expendsive, too "big" (pyro, stage in-the-round, costume changes, confetti), seats too far away from the stage...I only really went for the experience and as company for my sister.

5. Name a band no longer around that you wish you'd seen:
Janis Joplin... I just love her.

6. Name a current band that you'd like to see:
I'd love to see Patty Griffin. She's one of my VERY favourites, who I haven't seen live.

7. If you could only see one band live for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Jason Mraz maybe, Sarah McLachlan maybe, Rufus Wainwright maybe... I have no idea.

8. Best live band you've seen
best band I've seen live?? If it has to be a band, I'd say The White Stripes.

9. Best support act you've seen:
Jason opening for Chantal Kreviazuk, hands down…then Joe Firstman opening for Sheryl Crow.

10. Favourite gig you've been to:
Its really hard to answer this one... can I just say most of them?!

So... I kinda stole this from someone else's LJ (thank you Ana!!). All the states I've been to are highlighted in red. Wow...I never realized how many places I've been, and thats just in the U.S! Its surprising...I would never have visited most of those places if it weren't for certain someone and a handful of others. ;) I'd be fun to see a bit more red on this map. *dreams*

create your own visited states map

Owww... wecome to day 6 of my headache. It hasn't really stopped since it started on Monday. Nothing is helping... not sleep, medicine... or the amazing amounts of ice cream I've been eating (not that I thought it would). lol. Luckily, I was off today and yesterday and was able to rest. I have tomorrow off and then its back to work Monday. I usually think positively, but I have a feeling this headache will not be gone by then. :(

I just watched the new-ish "The Parent Trap" on TV. Surprisingly, it was quite good. I thought I'd be disappointed... but I really liked it. It was so cute!

...or something like that. Owwww. :(

The last 3 days have not been the most fun for me. I've had a constant headache since Monday at 2pm. Its a concussive headache, as a result of my injury in September. I know, 'cause concussive headaches feel quite different than a regular headache. I had to call in sick yesterday... which I wasn't to thrilled about (I'm trying to not call in sick... so when it comes time to book days off in the spring, they'll let me). Luckily, I had today off. I really thought my headache would be gone by today... but I awoke in alot of pain this morning. I finally decided to call my doctor.. and was able to go see him at 3pm. He looked at my eyes, felt my forehead, asked if I was throwing up or having trouble with my hearing or sight (no, no and no)... and then prescribed Tylenol 3's w/ codeine for me, 'cause unfortunately these headaches don't react to over-the-counter stuff like Advil. He also gave me some "Robaxacet" (for back pain and muscle spasms) and said it sometimes helps pain like this. When I got home I skipped the back medicine and took some of the Tylenol 'cause I thought it'd work better... LOL.. now I'm in just slightly less pain and I'm incredibly dizzy and lightheaded!!! yikes! I'm afraid to get up off this chair. ooohh... I can tell it'll be a fun day tomorrow at work!

In other news.... Matthew (my nephew) came over tonight after his supper to have me help him with homework. Awww!! :) I helped him edit his "persuasive paragraph" and his book report. I'm happy I'm the chosen one to help him. It makes this Auntie proud.... although I kept kinda zoning out as he was reading me his stuff. "Umm... can you repeat what you just said??" damn medicine! I felt bad.

The other day, my sister mentioned that there was a sweater that she would like at American Eagle for her birthday.... so today I went with my mom to buy my sister the sweater. I found it and then looked around for myself. I have $21 left on my gift card. My mom is the WORST person to shop with... immediately, she started telling me to hurry up, saying we need to go and complaining "There's nothing in this for me!!! There's absolutley nothing I want here." Of course there isn't... and you offered to take me out shopping, stop acting like you were forced into it and just be tolerant. Grrr.... She does that all the time too. She'll take me out somewhere to be nice, yet complain the whole time that I'm so selfish and she could be home doing something she enjoys instead of wasting her time dragging me around.

Another thing that annoyed me about my shopping excursion.... the employees of AE. If they weren't chatting amonst themselves about what they did last night and ignoring me when I do need help... they are being way too overly helpful. Unless I'm wondering around the store looking like a sad, lost little puppy.... I DON'T NEED HELP!! OKAY?!?! I tried a really nice pair of green chords on. An employee who said "My name is Markus, if you need any help"...showed me to a dressing room. I thought the pants were too tight and got my mom to get me a size bigger. The "Markus" comes and asks me how they fit. I said they seemd bit tight. He then proceeded to give me his fashion advice "They're supposed to be like that. Its because they have stretch. Sit down...okay, yeah, they fit right. You might find the size 4 too big.". I tried the bigger size on and sure enough, they were too big. When I was done, I left the dressing room and "Markus" asked me how they fit and said "Yeah, I thought they'd be too big.". lol.... Thanks for ALLLLL your advice, but I DON"T NEED YOUR HELP!!!

I usually enjoy shopping... but it was just plain frustrating today.

I'm on my way to bed now, 'cause I have to get up at 7am and be at work by 8am....grrr (I hate opening shifts!)... but I just thought I'd say "Championship Bass" for Playstation 1 is soooo much fun! Thats fishing for bass... not playing the bass, although that would be quite enjoyable. Bass playing competitions, special guests...hmm... what an idea!

*sniff*.. so I'm off to bed now. *reaches for a kleenex* I just read a friend's journal entry and posted a comment which made me cry. *sniff*
