Dear Santa...
Dear Santa,
This year I've been busy!
In October I bought porn for becky711 (-10 points). Last month I gave change to a homeless guy (19 points). Last Saturday I helped nealj across the street (6 points). In April I ruled Canada as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points). In January I punched elizalavelle in the arm (-10 points).
Overall, I've been nice (705 points). For Christmas I deserve an Easy-Bake Oven!
Sincerely, gonnashine |

http://www.Pandora.com
You enter some artists and/or songs that you like, and it selects music at random for you based not on the genre but very specific stylistic attributes of each song. By telling them whether you like the songs or not, you will customize what kinda of music your station plays. You can listen to it for free for up to one hour each day, or for an unlimited time if you pay a small subscription fee.
I'm quite addicted to the site. I've heard so much music I like... that site knows me! |

| | tired | ] | *sings* Happy 2 year Mraz-iversary to me!!
Yes, it was 2 years ago today that I discovered Jason and saw him live for the 1st time... and what a great 2 years those have been.
Here's a picture I look that night (at that time, I thought it was good!):

That night Jason was the opening act for Chantal Kreviazuk. I went to see her, but I walked out a fan of him. I cut a review of the show out of our local paper the next day... here it is the picture and the little blurb about him in the review:
The concert begining with opening act Jason Mraz, a young American singer/songwriter with "star" written all over him, was a casual affair.
and later:
For his part, Mraz had the crowd whooping after four songs and jumping to their feet at the end of seven songs delivered over a 40-minute set. Combining inventive songwriting - the songs were drawn from his solo debut Waiting For My Rocket To Come - with innovative guitar playing and expansive vocals, Mraz demonstrated why he is creating buzz south of the border. The San Diego based singer/songwriter has attracted comparison to all kinds of hot artists, but he seems closest to John Mayer in live performance. His loopy, trippy, bending and twisting music is a blend of folk, world and jazz all his own. And he is accomanied by a tight band led by Dejembe-style percussionist Toca Rivera. The Center should book Mraz to a return engagement -- now. A year down the road he will be doing stadium shows. This guy is the Right Stuff.

I read that review for the first time tonight since I cut it out two years ago. Wow. So much has changed... It was weird to read the review again, but it made me so proud of him. *sniff* |

Yayy!! Its snowing right now...the first snow of the year. The snowflakes are what I like to call "pussy flakes" 'cause they're so big and fluffy. The snow is making me happy. I'm not sure exactly why though. Maybe becuase it means Christmas is comming. Its certainly not because I like snow or when its cold. Brrr!!! That reminds me, I need to continue my search for a winter coat. A nice warm down-filled one.. but one that doesn't make me look like the Stay-Puff marshmallow man. |

I brought him to school this morning... he looked SO good!! His costume is the BEST!!

I'm so tired. I'm working until 10:30 tonight (grrr... Halloween hours) and 4.5 hours sleep is just not gonna cut it. I think I'll have a nap. right. now. |

| [ | music |
| | computer hum | ] | Woah... first entry in 6 months. Can you tell I'm not much of a journal person? Stole this from Emy (thank you!!!):
----------------
1. Make a list of all the bands you've seen:
Jason Mraz Matt Nathanson Tristan Prettyman Steadman Joe Firstman Kyle Riabko Graham Colton Band Sheryl Crow Jewel Dixie Chicks Ricky Skaggs Jann Arden Emm Gryner Diana Krall Shania Twain Remy Shand Deborah Cox Bif Naked Dido Travis Emiliana Torrini Indigo Girls K's Choice Sarah Slean White Stripes Whirlwind Heat Barenaked Ladies Chantal Kreviazuk Jorane Holly McNarland Amanda Marshall Tom Wilson Tom Cochrane Lillix Sarah McLachlan Butterfly Boucher Rufus Wainwright Martha Wainwright Teitur Shannon McNally Joan as Police Woman
*whew* in no particular order, just how they came to mind ...but I know there must be a few I've missed.
2. Make a list of all the gigs you've got coming up: None *yet*. :(
3. Gig that was the most fun? The first show that comes to mind is Jason in Deland, FL last December, but its really hard to say... And then I guess Sheryl Crow at Bluesfest last July, second row GA. ;)
4. Most disappointing gig? Shania Twain (Oct 2003)- I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was "too much"... too expendsive, too "big" (pyro, stage in-the-round, costume changes, confetti), seats too far away from the stage...I only really went for the experience and as company for my sister.
5. Name a band no longer around that you wish you'd seen: Janis Joplin... I just love her.
6. Name a current band that you'd like to see: I'd love to see Patty Griffin. She's one of my VERY favourites, who I haven't seen live.
7. If you could only see one band live for the rest of your life, who would it be? Jason Mraz maybe, Sarah McLachlan maybe, Rufus Wainwright maybe... I have no idea.
8. Best live band you've seen best band I've seen live?? If it has to be a band, I'd say The White Stripes.
9. Best support act you've seen: Jason opening for Chantal Kreviazuk, hands down…then Joe Firstman opening for Sheryl Crow.
10. Favourite gig you've been to: Its really hard to answer this one... can I just say most of them?! |

| [ | mood |
| | depressed | ] | Step 1: Open your mp3 player. Step 2: Put all of your music on random. Step 3: List the first ten songs it plays, no matter how embarrassing.
1. Steadman - Carried 2. Mr. Rogers - "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" (don't ask!! lol) 3. Sheryl Crow - Ode To Billy Joe (cover) 4. Annie Lennox - Don't Let It Bring You Down 5. Travis - Turn (live) 6. Matt Nathanson - Answering Machine 7. White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl 8. Kate & Anna McGarrigle - What'll I Do 9. Tiny Tim - Tiptoe Through The Tulips 10. Dolly Parton - Jolene
And just 'cause that list is KINDA weird....I'm gonna do it again! Next 10 songs, no, the next 15!!
1. White Stripes - When I Hear My Name 2. White Stripes - Lord, Send Me An Angel 3. Travis - Pipe Dreams (live) 4. Rufus Wainwright - California 5. White Stripes - Candy Cane Children 6. Christina Aguilera - Beautiful 7. Steadman - No Big Deal 8. Bobby Gentry - Ode To Billy Joe 9. Travis - Killer Queen 10. Rufus Wainwright - Paper Moon 11. Talking Heads - Our House 12. Travis - All The Young Dudes (Bowie cover) 13. Bach - Taccota Fugue in D Minor (theme for all vampires and haunted houses) 14. Jason Mraz - Unravel 15. Rufus Wainwright - I'm Runnin'
"Random" wasn't really working very well. Tonight must have been "cover" night... and I didn't even know it! ;) |
